Samantha I. Lugo Rullán is a linguist, translator, writer, and editor.
Her media career began as a production assistant at CNN's New York newsroom. She worked as a copywriter and reporter for NBC News' national newsroom and as a special correspondent and anchor for Univision New York. She covered politics, international relations, and leadership issues. As an award-winning journalist, Ms. Lugo honed her skills as a writer, producer, and host of investigative reports, interviews with newsmakers, and LIVE coverage of special events and breaking news.
Ms. Lugo was appointed Deputy Press Secretary of the City of New York. As a public affairs and government professional, Ms. Lugo helped to develop and implement a City-wide communications strategy. She focused on crisis management, press events, education, children’s services, policy, legal affairs, and culture. Ms. Lugo became the First Deputy Press Secretary to the Mayor, a position she held until she joined ABC News as Director of Media Relations.
At ABC News, Ms. Lugo served as the primary media liaison for Peter Jennings, ABC's World News Tonight and Peter Jennings Reporting. She managed press relations for ABC News executives, journalists, and news programming, including 20/20, Good Morning America, Nightline, Primetime Live, ABC News Now, ABCNews.com and ABC News specials. Disney-owned ABC News is one of America’s historic television news networks.
Ms. Lugo also served as Director of Corporate Communications for Cablevision Systems Corporation, where she executed media management and corporate strategies for its executives and subsidiaries.
In 2004, Ms. Lugo co-founded and is a partner at Infinity Strategic Communication Corporation. Infinity Strategic is a leader in strategic communication and business thinking, specializing in leadership, corporate communications, and crisis management.
Harnessing the power of words, and informed by her TV and media experience, Ms. Lugo leads training programs that help prominent executives and high-profile individuals improve their public speaking and media presence.
She is a classical literature and journalism graduate of New York University. An Affiliate Linguist at the United Kingdom’s Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL), and member of the Asociación Española de Traductores, Correctores e Intérpretes (Asetrad) and the American Translators Association (ATA).
